A Due Diligence System, Not a Certification
Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 — the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), amended by Regulation (EU) 2025/2650 — requires companies placing wood and wood-derived products on the EU market to prove two things: the product is deforestation-free (produced on land that was not deforested after 31 December 2020), and it was legally produced under the laws of its country of origin.
Unlike FSC or PEFC, EUDR is not a voluntary scheme a factory can choose to join. It is EU law, enforced through customs controls on the buyer's side.
What Counts as a Regulated Product
EUDR covers Annex I commodities and their derived products — including wood, wood furniture, and related components. If your export range includes any wood content — solid wood, veneer, plywood, or wood-frame upholstered pieces — it is very likely in scope. Metal and fully synthetic products without wood content generally fall outside EUDR, though packaging and structural components are worth checking.
